Many of you will have seen this man around. Not often in the spotlight, Mark ‘Thommo’ Thomson is one of the hardest working individuals we have in our organisation.
Thommo is our CMM, Chief Maintenance Manager. He ensures all the equipment is running smoothly, is safe for use, and plays a pivotal role when we perform major renovations.
On top of this, he is the first to put his hand up to help for a show we put on and is the last one there during packup. During the event, he is also on the frontline helping where needed and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty.
Thommo’s start in Doherty’s came after he traveled over from New Zealand in 1999 and needed somewhere to train. A keen powerlifter, he found Doherty’s Gym Brunswick and knew that it would be his new home.
In 2000, he entered a power lifting competition at 114KG (which he won) before dieting down for 5 months and coming 3rd in the Novice Bodybuilding at Tony’s Victorian State Championships show in 2000.
Thommo is one of the most creative individuals around and is responsible for many of the innovations you see within our gym system today.
We love having you around Thommo, thank-you for all your hard work.
