Team Doherty's Gym City wins Eureka Climb 2009


Doherty's 24:7 Gym City out ran, out turned, and out climbed the rest of the competition in the family & friends division of this years Eureka Stair Climb held on the 22nd November, 2009.

Our mens team (the Vaults) completed the climb with a combined time of 54:17 easily winning our division. We also achieved 3rd team overall, beating all emergency services teams, and only losing to two corporate teams.

The mens team comprised:

  1. Marijan Simunic (placed 22nd overall individual) - 11:49
  2. Michael Kane (38th overall) - 12:27
  3. Alastair White (70th overall) - 13:23
  4. Justin Firgaira (288th overall) - 16:39

Our womens team (the Keys) completed the climb with a combined time of 1:09:20. They achieved 10th placed team overall.

The womens team comprised:

  1. Victoria May (188th overall) - 15:13
  2. Candice De Man (457th overall) - 20:22
  3. Nina Grootz (321st overall) - 17:24
  4. Melinda Jaksic (265th overall) - 16:21

The total number of recorded times was 625, and the average time of all recorded times was 19:07.

The most exciting aspect to come from the day was that Doherty's 24:7 Gym City donated a combined total of $1350. A tremendous effort by Candice De Man who raised $890 alone for the cause.
